Homemade Vanilla Extract ~ So Easy to Make

Vanilla Extract Making Supplies

Why settle for imitation Vanilla Extract when you can make your own?

Making Vanilla extract is simple and affordable. Prices for imitation vanilla in stores is just outrageous. If you do a fair amount of baking, it is so worth making your own extract! The process is simple and takes very few ingredients. In fact, the process is so simple and fun, you just might get addicted to making all kinds of different extracts!

Supplies that you will need:

  • Vanilla Beans
  • Bottle(s)
  • Vodka ( you can substitute Rum or Bourbon if you choose)
  • Funnel

Making the Extract:

It is not necessary to use expensive Vodka. This is not something you are drinking, so the cheapest brand you can find will make plenty of extract(s) for you. I purchased Vanilla Beans online, but you should be able to find them at some of your local grocers as well. You will want a funnel to pour liquor in the bottle without creating a mess. Any bottle with a good fitting lid should be fine. I chose to use the flip top bottle pictured above as I already had it on hand.  You can find many bottle varieties online and in local stores. Mason jars are another option if you have any on hand.
